Our interview with CHCH TV
Pauline Shriner, the creative mind behind Shriner's Creek Kettle Popcorn, says her interest in the popcorn business came about the day she ate a mouthful of hot fragrant popcorn at a Heritage Day Festival in Niagara...
On that sunny, cool, autumn day the kid in her revelled in the delicious treat, and she was hooked! Pauline said to the kettle popcorn vendor, "Hey, that looks like fun!", and he said, "It is! Let's talk!" and the rest is kettle popcorn history!
It was shortly after that initial conversation in 2001 that she and her husband, Harold, found themselves the owners of a tent, a few tables and a small popcorn kettle! Harold said, "We were so excited, that our enthusiasm spread like wildfire. Our family and friends soon became involved, including Pauline's then eighty-one year old mom Cecile". The neighbours say "Meme" is the fastest bagger in town! (you can find Cecile in action in the TFO 24.7 feature video on our homepage!)
Our sweet and salty popcorn quickly drew a loyal customer base and within three years, Shriner's Creek Kettle Popcorn needed to expand. We purchased our first concession trailer, added a larger kettle and watched our business explode!
Niagara's favorite, Shriner's Creek Kettle Popcorn, pops everywhere now: festivals, craft shows, events and at the Pelham & Grimsby farmer's markets during the summer months.
Shriner's Creek Kettle Popcorn product is continually evolving. Along with our Best Seller and Original Shriner's Sweet & Salty Kettle Popcorn, our popcorn line up includes a fantastic Cheddar Cheese Popcorn, Pink Vanilla Kettle Popcorn (why is a "pink elephant" popping into my mind?), savoury Dill Pickle, Salt & Vinegar and Nacho Cheese Fire and Memphis Fire, for the fire-lovers!
For people who are looking for a more traditional flavour, we offer a Theatre style Buttery Salt Popcorn and Shriner's Own Caramel Corn! Don't forget Maple Caramel Corn, Chocolate Caramel, Frootie Tootie and Cinnamon Caramel Apple Pie!
